Georgetown, Guyana (Credible Sources) PNCR Leader Aubrey Norton firmly declared his standing as the party’s top-rated opposition figure, citing internal polling as proof of his strong grassroots appeal. Speaking at a press conference, Norton asserted, “Among the opposition, I have the highest ratings, including many people who they’re naming.”

He credited his popularity to direct engagement with citizens, stating, “I move around this country, and people speak to me.” Norton reaffirmed his role as the PNCR’s presidential candidate, adding, “My party would have said to me that I will be the presidential candidate. My party has given me the authority to choose if I decide otherwise,” signaling the party’s commitment to unity ahead of the 2025 elections.

Norton challenged the notion that likability alone determines political success. “Likability sounds good, but a lot of time in politics it’s who is on the ground, who are engaging people,” he said. He underscored his continued presence in public spaces, noting, “I go into the markets all around, I haven’t changed my lifestyle.” His remarks sought to highlight the importance of grassroots outreach over image management.

On comparisons with other political figures, Norton was resolute: “When it comes to political skills, I still believe I’m ahead of them.” He dismissed likability as a decisive factor, pointing to historical precedents, stating, “If that was the case, Trump would not have been in power.”

The PNCR leader exuded confidence in his party’s readiness to challenge the PPP in 2025. He concluded by stressing the importance of grassroots mobilization, affirming, “We will defeat the PPP,” and vowed to continue strengthening the party’s campaign efforts.
