AFC and ANUG Forge Dialogue on National Issues at Inaugural Meeting

Georgetown, Guyana (Credible Sources) The Alliance For Change (AFC) and A New and United Guyana (ANUG) convened an inaugural meeting today, December 10, 2024, at the AFC’s Centre for Change office in Georgetown. The event marked a significant step in fostering dialogue between two political parties committed to addressing Guyana’s pressing national challenges.

In a joint statement, AFC Leader Nigel Hughes extended congratulations to ANUG’s newly elected Chairman, Dr. Mark France, on behalf of his party. “This meeting is part of the AFC’s ongoing ‘Listening and Groundings’ sessions with key stakeholders, including political parties and civil society,” Hughes stated, emphasizing the party’s commitment to collaboration. ANUG highlighted that this meeting is the first of a similar outreach initiative they are embarking on to engage with other national actors.

The discussions, described as “cordial and invaluable,” focused on identifying mutual areas of interest and exploring avenues for collaborative action. Topics of national importance dominated the agenda, underscoring shared concerns over issues affecting Guyanese citizens. Representing ANUG were Chairman Dr. Mark France, General Secretary Jonathan Subrian, Finance Secretary Stephen Patterson, and executive members Kirk Anderson, Akeem McDonald, and Dexter George. The AFC delegation included Hughes, Chairman David Patterson, Co-founder Khemraj Ramjattan MP, and executive member Catherine Hughes MP.

Both parties left the meeting expressing optimism about potential partnerships. The joint statement reflected mutual respect and a shared vision, hinting at future engagements that could strengthen their collective impact on Guyanese society.
