Two men in camouflage suits robbed a businesswoman of $1M in cash and jewellery at her Essequibo Coast business. The victim, 37-year-old Fownda Callender, runs a small shop.

The men entered at gunpoint, demanded cash and jewellery, and ransacked her house and shop. One of the suspects fired two rounds before escaping. No injuries were reported. 9mm spent shells were found at the scene. Investigations are ongoing.

There have been a spate of robberies recently where the perpetrators have been allegedly dressed as police, and additionally a number of criminal elements have been found with camouflage clothing resembling that of the Guyana Defence Force, as crime continues to soar.

On July 3, $10 million robbery of a 65-year-old manager of Toucan Distributors Limited was carried out by two men dressed in police uniforms and armed with pistols.
