In a tragic turn of events, Lindon Lamiazon, a convicted prisoner, was discovered dead in his cell at Lusignan Prison early Wednesday morning. The grim discovery was made around 6:00 AM during a routine check by prison officers.
The Guyana Prison Service reported that Lamiazon was found unresponsive, and immediate attempts to check his blood pressure and pulse yielded no readings. Despite prompt medical attention, including an examination by a doctor, Lamiazon was pronounced dead on the scene.
Lamiazon had recently been discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was being treated for kidney failure. At the time of his death, he was still undergoing treatment. The Prison Service has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death and is working to notify his family. Lamiazon was serving a 54-month sentence for causing death by dangerous driving, a conviction handed down in 2021.
