The Youth Advisory Council of Guyana, which was ceremoniously inaugurated at the Arthur Chung Convention Center in the latter half of 2022, has only spent $14 million of the $75 million allotted to the Council in 2023.

In response to queries in the National Assembly regarding the estimation of the nation’s budget for 2024, Minister Gail Teixeira stated that the Council has been “getting their feet wet” due to the fact it is new. Teixeira was at the time defending the allocations to the Office of the President.

The Council, according to the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, has not yet submitted a report. Another $75 million is being allocated by the government to the Youth Advisory Council for the year 2024. At the helm of the Council is Dr. Josh Khannai.
