The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) administration, which has been in power for a period of three and a half years, has yet to nominate a member to the board of the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission (GLSC).

During the National Assembly’s deliberation on Tuesday regarding the Estimates of Budget 2024, Member of Parliament Honourable Juretha Fernandes recalled that the governing Act 59:05 mandates the establishment of a board and its monthly meetings. Teixeira was at the time defending the allocations to the Office of the President.

Minister Gail Teixeira responded that the critical functions are being carried out by the Chief Executive Officer of GLSC and expressed optimism that a board will be established in the near future.
