Residents of Linden are concerned that two days after a road project was brought to a halt at Ice Rater Road Block 22, rather than meet with the residents of the area and address their concerns the Minister of Public Works brought a few of “his political cheerleaders” to attack and insult the residents.
Additionally, the residents also allege that the Minister went as far as prohibiting an engineer from meeting with the residents at a scheduled meeting that the engineer had agreed to with the community.
As regards the road works under contention, residents have raised with our publication several issues, including, that no provision was made for drainage, no curb wall to channel the water, and the fact that there is evidence of erosion in the area.
Residents contend that Minister Juan Edghill has refused to listen to them and has instead instructed senior police officers to stand guard as the road works recommence.
