16-Y-O complainant says she texted President Ali on Dharamlall’s instructions – leaked statements

Several statements to the authorities by a 16-Y-O alleged rape complainant which were leaked recently, reveal even more harrowing details about the circumstances surrounding rape allegations made against the Minister of Local Government Nigel Dharamlall and the investigation.

In one purported statement seen by this publication, the complainant allegedly states that on “Friday, 16 June 2023 I had a brave conversation with Nigel Dharamlall”. The 16-Y-O said allegedly that the minister “apologize”. “He told me he was profoundly sorry for everything and if I can find it in my heart to believe him,” the purported leaked statement reveals.

Dharamlall through law firm Hughes, Fields, and Stoby has denied the damning allegations. The complainant in the purported statement allegedly said, “He knew I was not pleased with him and he knows that I wasn’t actually willing to compromise so he constantly kept in contact with my dad to ensure that they are actually getting to calm me from not going forward with anything,” the alleged victim purportedly told authorities.”

The student who wrote her final exams last month allegedly stated, “I communicated with Nigel Dharamlall on Friday through my dad’s phone. So when I spoke with him on Friday he was like I am really happy that you finally decide to talk with me and I told him that I had actually agreed, because when I listen to this man spoke, I literally felt sorry for him, that is what changed my whole mentality because of how he spoke I felt sorry for him. Nigel Dharamlall said the most that can happen is that he can lose his job but at least he will not go to jail because I decided to give a statement to the police saying that everything that is being said was not true”.

The teenager allegedly said in the purported statement, “So he had it in him that I will not take him to court but since I did now, I see it is something different. My mother was there when I was communicating with Nigel Dharamlall on the phone, and she heard what I was telling him.”

The complainant in the purported statement further alleges, “Also, she did hear when he give me President Irfaan Ali number to WhatsApp him and message him and tell him that everything is still resolved. The message is still on my phone which is still in police custody. Nigel Dharamlall told me that this is the President number and he told me to send him the message. I sent the message to President Irfaan Ali, and he did read it and it received two stars. The President’s number was a 4040 number, but I can’t remember the first three numbers, but I know it was a 4040 number.”

The indigenous student was allegedly adamant in the statement to the authorities, “I did not tell Nigel Dharamlall to have sexual intercourse with me, it all happened in the moment and that was basically it. I did not consent, I never said yes to him. Nigel Dharamlall was the first and only male that had oral, vaginal, and anal sex with me.”

On June 22 the police sent the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for determination. That file was sent back to the police on June 28 for further investigation by the police. Yesterday the police is reported as saying the 16-Y-O student no longer wants to proceed with the case.
