Regional Democratic Council Chairman  (Region 10) Deron Adams says the Regional Executive Officer Dwight John spent millions of dollars on a contingent to be present a Georgetown and now claims he has no money to spend at the birthplace of Mashramani (Mash).

Chairman Adams said, in a letter to the Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) and Leader of the Opposition Aubrey Norton, and seen by our publication, “What the REO is doing is threatening to kill Mashramani in Linden. Threatening to not pay service providers when finances for this budget line not only were worked out to accommodate same but this work programme could be adjusted, is untenable, wicked and must be called out.”

At a recent meeting of the RDC the Council took the decision to revise what it would be doing for these observances to focus on Mashramani in its birthplace, Linden, because instead of a requested $17 million budget for National and Other Events, the Region was allocated approximately $11 million.

Adams says additionally there have been moves by PPP operatives not to have Region 10’s Mash parade end at Bayroc having moved off from Five Corner, but to head to Christianburg instead. He says they have also learned directly that the REO and DREO, plans to outfit persons in those same rain-soaked Mash outfits from the group that they took to Georgetown, which they collected back, along with some leftovers from last year to put up a semblance of a Mash band in the mining town.

“This is a fight for dominance and control of Region 10. My opinion is that it is in our Party’s interest to recognize this for what it is and ensure that it does not happen,” the Region 10 Chairman said.
