Assault complaint lodged with police by Region 4 Chairman against REO

Daniel Seeram, the Regional Chairman of Region 4’s Regional Democratic Council (RDC), today made a formal complaint to the police of assault, even as he vehemently denounced as political thuggery an incident that occurred at a Flag Raising Ceremony on February 22, 2023, in the compound of the Council. Mr. Seeram, who was in attendance,  described the events that unfolded as one of the most horrifying instances of political thuggery committed by a person who can only be regarded as a lackey of the government.

As Chairman of the Region, Mr. Seeram, a supporter of progress and peace, made remarks at the Ceremony. He emphasized the value of peace, love, and unity and said he extended a friendly hand to everyone who held the same beliefs, regardless of their political differences. As he concluded his remarks, Chairman Seeram asked Hon. Catherine Hughes MP to speak briefly and add diversity during the ceremony.

The Government’s Regional Executive Officer (REO), Mr. Donald Gajraj, the Chairman stated, brought shame to the ceremony with his inappropriate and despicable behavior, insisting Mrs. Hughes not speak, while snatching the microphone away from Mr. Seeram as he stood at the podium.

He is urging all right-thinking Guyanese to sternly condemn the REO’s behavior. The REO’s actions were further criticized by Seeram, who said that if this is the government’s portrayal of “One Guyana,” he fears for the future of the nation. He pleaded with the government to take corrective action and fire the REO.
