Car crashes into guardrails on Rupert Craig Highway

A speeding car, PSS 5321, reportedly slammed into the guardrails on the Rupert Craig Highway in the vicinity of the Commemorative Arch at Cummings Lodge. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle on Monday night.

There are no reported fatalities and it is also unclear how many persons were in the vehicle at the time. But an accident of this nature is sure to leave the driver and possibly other occupants of the vehicle with shock trauma, experts say.

Last year Guyana recorded 362 serious road accidents resulting in injuries to 397 people. 2022 has also recorded a number of road accidents, many resulting in fatalities.

Drivers, especially during this holiday season, are reminded to exercise the Five C’s of good driving. According to the Department of Public Information (DPI) drivers should exercise care, caution, consideration, common sense, and courtesy when using the roadways.
