“Minister of Failed Initiatives”: Human Services Ministry staff berated in 5-hour meeting

The staff of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security want Minister Vindhya Persaud gone. Demerara Waves broke the story recently that raises questions of mismanagement and incompetence.

According to that online entity, “Concerns were also raised… about procurement practices and several initiatives that they said have yielded little or no success.” The staff reportedly said, “The Minister is doing a lot of short-term programmes which has no impact whatsoever. WE call her the Minister of “failed initiatives” and the “launching Minister”.

It was also alleged that the Minister is “facilitating the hiring of several members of the Dharmic Sabha to work there in some instances at higher salaries while the highly qualified professionals are burdened with more work for less pay.”

Ministry sources who spoke with our publication on condition of anonymity said a meeting was held yesterday with “certain staff” at the Family Unity in the Palms compound as the Minister was trying to avoid the press at the Ministry’s Lamaha Street headquarters.

In the marathon five-hour meeting it is alleged the Minister said that she shall not be moved. One source said the Minister was “livid” and said that she was hurt by the allegations. She made reference to Amna Ally and spoke about her allegedly sleeping on the job.

Credible Sources was told there were fifteen items on the agenda centering around plans for 2023 across the various department, however, the entire meeting only discussed the anonymous letter about the Minister’s alleged mismanagement.
