Students “pushing” at Queens leads to relatives attempting to hit Deputy Principal, student

An incident at Queens College between a male and female student, described as a “pushing /hitting” episode, escalated. The male student, it is alleged, prevented the female student from entering a classroom at the school by placing his arms across the door. This evolved into the students “pushing/hitting” each other. Both students later exchanged apologies.

The matter, however, did not end there. Sources with knowledge of the situation and who were there when it occurred, alleged that the Acting Principal was in a meeting when the parent of the female student, a High Court official, arrived at the school with police. Reports indicate the Deputy Principal engaged the parent and matters took a turn for the worst.

It is alleged that the Deputy Head Teacher was left traumatized after the High Court official, in the presence of the officers, “shouted at her, calling her a liar and attempting to hit her when the female police officer stepped in and pushed him away”.

It is further alleged, “a relative” of the female student later went to the male student’s class and “pushed him” according to persons familiar with the incident. The matter is said to be under investigation. Teachers at the school were on a ‘go-slow’ today in protest over the incident. [Developing story]
