“Pipes dry for months” – Friendship residents say they need water

Residents of the village of Friendship on the East Bank of Demerara say that they have been out of water for months and are calling on the authorities to move beyond talk and fix the problem.

“Over the big bridge have been out of water for over serial months, almost one year now”, reported a resident.

Another resident told our publication, “We visited GWI with a signed petition for assistance but no one is helping us. We can’t bathe, we can’t cook, we can’t flush our toilets, we fetching water from a far distance and we’re taxpayers.”

Residents of the otherwise quiet community say they are tired of hearing promises. “We just want the problem fixed”, a resident said.
