‘Teacher left my child with injuries on a bench after accident outside school’ – Parent

A parent of a Berbice High School student took to Facebook today to complain to the Ministry of Education about an incident at the school recently. Roneisha Kansinally is irate that her daughter was involved in an accident in front of her school, a teacher spoke to the driver who hit the student down but took no information from the driver nor took any further action on the child’s behalf.

The parent said, “My daughter Hannah Kansinally a first-form student of Berbice High School who was selected to be a part of the choir group for the graduation that was held on 27/10/2022 at the school auditorium was unfortunately involved in an accident in front of the said school on the morning of the graduation.”

Roneisha alleges that “One of the teachers of the school…. came out to render assistance and she had a conversation with the driver that hit my child and she is denying same. To make matters worst she took my child to sit on a bench in the school and leave her unattended instead of taking her to the hospital to seek medical attention. A auxiliary staff of the school saw my child in pain and distress and took it upon herself to take her to the hospital.”

“My daughter suffered a fractured wrist and bruises to her knee. She could have been bleeding internally. The teacher allowed the car driver to go and didn’t even collected the registration number for the car. My daughter’s dad called into the school and was told that they are focusing on graduation and will deal with the matter tomorrow. They collected his number, and no one have made contact at the moment.”

The parent is calling on the Ministry of “to investigate the matter” as she is “very disappointed in the way the teacher dealt with the situation” since “the teacher did not know the extent of the injury yet she took my daughter to sit on the bench and is denying that she didn’t have a conversation with the driver.”
