“Racism in Guyana is getting worst” -Nigel Hinds

Civil Society Activist Nigel Hinds believes “Racism in Guyana is getting worse.” The former Change Guyana Prime Ministerial Candidate said in a post of Facebook said, it is “fuelled by the current governing administration’s Accelerated Racist Policies (ARP). The wealth of the nation is being allocated, divvied up, and Indianized to the detriment of African-Guyanese.”

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) regime recently took umbrage with International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly – Guyana (IDPADA-G) conference, themed “Resisting the emerging apartheid state”. Adding his voice to a growing chorus of African Guyanese who feel on the periphery of the economic policies, Hinds said, “Over the last several months African-Guyanese leadership have been vocal about the impoverishing of traditional PNC supporters and have referred to ARP as economic apartheid.”

Hinds stated that “Small contractors with government agencies are replaced, only because they are perceived to have voted for the PNC. Large government contracts for African Guyanese are non-existent. Having Guyanese businessmen grovel to benefit from the wealth bestowed upon our nation, is psychologically destabilizing for the confidence, mental condition and courage needed for the masses of African-Guyanese to have the hope and belief that they can succeed.”

A Chartered Accountant by profession Hinds said, “This suppressive and harassing system is fuelled by the ARP of this PPP administration that is enamored and intent on having an Indian Supremacy Governance Structure.” The United States government recently raise several issues of a similar nature with the Irfaan Ali regime during a visit to Washington, while the administration continues to downplay the situation.
