HGP Nightly News is reporting on Friday last gunmen posing as security personnel grabbed almost GYD$ 20 million in cash and cheques from the GTT store at the Giftland Mall. The robbery reportedly happened on Thursday night, September 8, 2022.
Police in a statement said the gunmen duct taped the hands and mouth of the employees and locked them in the booth. The perpetrators then escaped through a back door, made their way into the Giftland parking lot and entered a white old model Raum (number unknown), and headed east on the Railway Embankment.
The telephone company in a press release noted that on Thursday, September 8, 2022, an incident occurred at our Giftland Store location. We have engaged the Guyana Police Force and our investigation team. As a result, the GTT Giftland Store location will have a delayed opening today, September 9, 2022.
‘Further, we have accounted for all our team members and continue to provide support through our HR employee experience. Please feel free to use the Unique Innovations store in the Giftland Mall for any mmg transaction or visit GTT’s ground floor location for all other GTT services, the company urges customers,” GTT said.
