A former employee of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and mother of a six-year-old boy was on Friday, August 26, 2022, stabbed to death by her common-law husband during an argument.
Dead, is 28-year-old Tacina Dazzel of La Bonne Intention (LBI), East Coast Demerara (ECD). Her reputed husband and owner of Go-Local Guyana Quincy Roache was later arrested at a friend’s house in Sophia in relation to her death. Dazzel was reportedly stabbed thirteen (13) times.
In voice note messages between herself and her sister, Dazzel could be heard referring to the suspect as a ‘narcissist’ and an abuser. In one of the voice notes, Dazzel told her sister “But, as it is right now, yuh sister deh in ah shit-hole, and ah trying to get out real bad so any form of help assistance, any form of mentoring, would be very much needed,” a seemingly fearful Tacina said to her sister.
Earlier in the voice messages, Tacina explained why she wanted to leave the relationship: “A veil just came off my eyes in the past couple of days, and I need the first door out of this relationship. The manipulation is too much… a word came to me while I was sleeping: ‘narcissist!’.”
“And two or three times this word keep waking me out of my sleep. When I researched the word, my jaw could have dropped. That is everything that he is right now… I can’t live with a madman. Everybody is telling me I should be wise enough to leave, that they expect better from me; but, trust me, when you are in it, it is different from when you from the outside looking in”, Tacina told her sister.
Tacina Dazzel is the third female to be killed this month by a male partner or friend.
