Guyanese pay $17,200 more on a basket of goods today when compared to two years ago

A recent statistical analysis and comparison of the prices for a basket of goods under the APNU+AFC Government two years ago and now has shown that the average Guyanese family is paying over $15,000 more for a basket of commodities under the Irfaan Ali regime.

Since its installation to office in August 2020, the PPP regime has been scampering to patch holes it created in the pockets of Guyanese with its bad policies and economic mismanagement of Guyana. The party’s failure to effectively contain the disastrous inflation rate and rising unemployment have resulted in major discontent among the Guyanese people.

Shadow Finance Minister Juretha Fernandes had warned of higher inflation during her Budget 2022 presentation. She had told the Parliament that Budget 2022 is going to be a $400,000 tax on every citizen of Guyana and will lead to more economic hardship for citizens. Sadly, those warnings were ignored and the regime continued to ride the proverbial economic wrecking ball.

As a result, and with a massive sugar shortage facing the nation, the APNU+AFC and WPA will be staging a massive rally at Burnham Court, Middle, and Carmichael Streets Georgetown on Tuesday, August 2nd 2022. The Guyanese people are fed up with the out-of-control price increases and the PPP regime’s failure to adopt meaningful solutions.
