Leader of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) Bharrat Jagdeo has confirmed that the PPP promised Su that the government would change the laws to make way for him to receive a casino permit.
This revelation came after a secret recording was published by VICE News showing Jagdeo pledging that “Su is my friend, he will get all the support”.
The VICE News reporters had posed as investors interested in a hotel and casino deal. Now we know that an MOU for such a hotel and casino was given to Su by the PPP government.
One very significant thing about this MOU is that it cannot be implemented under the current laws. Guyana has a limit to the number of casinos allowed in each region.
The MOU that the PPP signed with Su would require the PPP to change the law in order for Su to be able to proceed with the establishment of the business. Su truly has all the support.
