Embattled VP Jagdeo claims that he cannot find his former tenant and confidante to proceed with legal action. In his afternoon press conference where he sought to claw back some of his reputations, VP Jagdeo touched on a plethora of issues which included Norton, APNU, SOPs and China.
In the lengthy press conference held at the Office of the President, a visibly worried VP tried his best to distance himself from any corrupt acts. He explained his story to a room filled with reporters and finally, he pointed to what he intended to do. He insisted that he will take legal action against Su and he is currently looking for his former tenant and confidante.
In a stern attempt to stay calm and humble, Jagdeo remained straight-faced but did not touch on the specifics or the substance of the Vice News investigation. As he danced around the issue, he zeroed in on the Guyana-China relations and sought to denigrate the journalistic credentials of Isobel Yeung. Jagdeo insisted that she did not do her research and failed to trap him in any scheme to engage in corruption.
He challenged Vice News to show the entire interview which he initially released and justified most of his positions. He further noted that Vice News proceeded on an operation to edit the documentary to show Guyana in a bad light.
In the damning report which aired on the US network Showtime, Vice News documented a sting operation in which the Vice President of Guyana is seen discussing investments with a potential investor at his home in Pradoville 2. His confidante and tenant, Su indicated to the potential investor that once a bribe is paid, he can have access to the government, and everything will be taken care of by ‘his boss’ who is widely believed to be VP Jagdeo.
The VP also indicated that he has no intention of pursuing criminal charges against Su and also does not intend to have him deported.
