Massive censorship operation launched by government to stop the viewing of Vice News documentary

All across social media, Guyanese are complaining about being censored by social media platforms for posting videos and articles on an investigative documentary entitled ‘Guyana for Sale’ by Vice News. Guyanese social media exploded with cries of censorship as the documentary was released on the streaming platform, Showtime.

Some complained about receiving messages from Meta describing videos on the documentary as spam. This may have occurred because the government of Guyana may have complained to those social media entities about the video.

If this occurred, it means that the Jagdeo/Ali regime has embarked on a massive operation to stop the viewership of this documentary. Some are suggesting that this may also include a possible nationwide blackout tonight.

Guyanese have been waiting for months to see the full documentary following an interview with the VP which was released by the VP office a few months back.

Jagdeo released that aspect of the documentary to get ahead of the story and a series of denials followed it. These denials have been proven not true based on the content of the now-released documentary. Possibly fearing public exposure, the government and its agents are actively trying to stop Guyanese from seeing the damning allegations.

In a key part of the documentary by world-renown journalist Isobel Yeung, Jagdeo’s tenant and confidante, Su Zhi Rong is seen by an undercover camera, escorting a Chinese businessman to the home of VP Jagdeo. The video shows a meeting at the Pradoville 2 residence where a discussion ensues about plans to invest in Guyana.

The Chinese businessman who posed as an investor made several requests and was told by Jagdeo’s tenant that he could get government support for his plans, once bribes are paid.
