‘Stop Meddling’-Priya Manickchand delivers a feral blast to Congressman Hakeem Jeffries

In a direct response to concerns raised about racism in Guyana by US Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, attempted to debunk those allegations against her government. During a panel discussion on the ‘Globe Span’ program hosted by Dr. Asquit Rose on Monday, June 13, 2022, she slammed Congressman Hakeem Jeffries.

In the video, seen by this publication, the Minister of Education argued that the Congressman would contribute more to Guyana if he were to be truthful and constructive.

While speaking to an audience at the Guyana Day Service on Saturday, June 11, 2022, US Congressman, Hakeem Jeffries declared: ‘We are not gonna tolerate racism here and we are not going to tolerate racism down in Guyana and we will do everything to get things moving in a fairer more equitable direction’.

The response from the Minister of Education is the first official word from the government since the Congressman made those remarks.

The Jagdeo/Ali regime continues to be on the defensive against numerous US lawmakers, civil society groups, and the APNU+AFC Coalition who continue to insist that the government is engaging in wholesale discrimination and racism.

In the latest form of defense, Manickchand pointed to the programs by the Ministry of Education and insisted that they are devoid of discrimination.

However, allegations of racism and discrimination which are being pointed out by the Leader of the Opposition, are within the communities via infrastructure programs and the numerous cash handouts. Leader of the Alliance for Change, Khemraj Ramjattan, has called for the government to publish the names of those who have received cash handouts thus far. Those calls have been ignored by the government.
