New faces likely to join AFC’s executive

CHANGE is in the air. With Raphael Trotman no longer contesting for any position in the Alliance For Change’s (AFC) leadership and David Patterson only accepting nominations for Leader in an all-or-nothing play for the top job, there is a high expectation that new faces will enter the executive of the party.

Among the contenders is Economist Juretha Fernandes, who serves as leader of the party youth arm and APNU+AFC’s Shadow Minister of Finance. Fernandes is mounting a challenge for Chairman of the AFC.

Sherod Duncan, who hosts the very popular shows “In The Ring”, “FYI, For Your Information” and “Below De Belt” is another favorite to join the AFC executive. Duncan is contesting for the office of General Secretary (GS) where he pledges to resolve many long-standing shortcomings left unaddressed by the incumbent GS of the party, David Patterson.

Deonarine (Ricky) Ramsoroop, who holds two master’s degrees and served as Chairman of the East Coast chapter of the AFC, is a top contender for the position of Vice-Chairman of the AFC. Ramsaroop has pledged to push to grow and expand the party.

The strength and stability of AFC party groups nationwide stand as Ramsaroop’s primary program of focus where he pledged to address the shortcomings left by the incumbent Vice-Chair Cathy Hughes.
