Fuel prices up again

The Guyana Oil Company (GUYOIL) recently announced another set of increases in the price for all fuels across Guyana.

Gasoline has increased by $15 per litre from $239 to $254, while the price for desoline remains high at $275 per litre.

This represents the second such increase in the price of fuel within a month. In early May the company announced a $14 increase which moved prices from $225 to $239 per litre.

In March the company had also announced a slight decrease in fuel costs after lobbying by the main Opposition the APNU+AFC and other civil society groups.

Since being installed into Government nearly two years ago the Irfaan Ali/Jagdeo-led PPP regime has destroyed nearly all the economic gains made by the APNU+AFC Government between 2015-2020.

The APNU+AFC prudent management of Guyana’s economy, complemented by the competence of then Finance Minister Winston Jordan saw Guyana maintaining a low inflation rate and lower gas prices throughout its five years.
