IT Director, Head of Water Quality, and others at GWI sent on the breadline

The Guyana Water Inc.’s unfair, racially and politically motivated dismissals continue with the forcing of senior technical and managerial staff to either resign or be demoted. This is according to APNU+AFC member of Parliament Vinceroy Jordan.

According to Jordan, the recent dismissal of the company’s IT Director, the reassignment and demotion of the Programme Planning, Design and Implementation Director, and the Head of Water Quality among many others who were forced to resign, speak to a state of fear at the water company.

Jordan was at the time responding to questions from the press on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, during the PNCR’s weekly press conference. He disclosed that the remaining staff, many of whom are uncertain as to their Job security with the company are fearful that today or tomorrow, they might be sent home.

The Parliamentary Opposition MP is calling on Guyana Water Inc. to immediately end its campaign of firings and fearmongering and to immediately disclose the list of all those who were fired, retired, resigned, and hired from August 2020 to the present.

The Opposition wants to know how many were really fired and how many resigned out of the 322 staff reduction or is it that the company had an 18.6% retirement age staff compliment which all conveniently retired in just over a year’s period.
