The residents of Hope Lowlands on the East Coast of Demerara are furious over the condition of the roads in their community and the empty promises they have received from the PPP regime.
According to Shivpaul Jaikarran, an Alliance For Change (AFC) representative in the community, promises were made by the Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha to have the road fix since last year. He also related that several other senior PPP Government officials visited the community earlier this year and promised to have the roads fixed.
“This community only gat one entrance…one way in, one way out, which mek the situation worse,” the AFC representative related. Credible Sources visited the community last week and observed school children in uniform walking through the muddy streets and vehicles navigating potholes.
The roads received some patches last year April when President Ali attended the funeral of 54-year-old Pretipaul Jaigobin, a Financial Analyst at the Ministry of Finance who died in an accident at Mabura in Region ten.
