Linden Hospital CEO may have already fired over two dozen staffers

As pressure continues to mount for the controversial Linden Hospital Complex CEO Rudy Small to be fired over allegations of incompetence and for his unjustified attempts to fire nearly 100 hospital staff last week, we are learning this morning that over two dozen employees may have already been sent home over the past year by CEO Small.

Deron Adams the Regional Chairman of Region 10, Upper Demerara/Berbice, in a Facebook post on had stated”Many other persons (NOT the 27 from yesterday) who were dismissed unlawfully by Rudy Small are now coming forward! This letter was issued to a “kitchen Attendant” in February 2022.”

No specific reason was cited for the employee being fired other than her probationary period had ended. The letter reads “Please note that management of the Linden Hospital Complex has taken a decision to extend your probation from 16th February 2022 to 15 March 2022 both dates inclusive. However, your last working day with the Linden Hospital Complex as a kitchen attendant will be on the 15th of March, 2022.”

The letter was signed approved by Rudolph Small and seconded by Ms. Roxanne King- Senior Personnel Officer (ag). Another letter posted to the Facebook page of the Regional Chairman shows evidence of how pervasive and vindictive the Linden Hospital Complex has become.

The letter dated June 1st, 2021, and addressed to a patient care assistant reads “Reference is made to your letter dated January 1st, 2021. I write to inform you that after careful consideration, the administration has decided that your service would no longer be required effective from July 1st, 2021.”

APNU+AFC Member of Parliament Jermaine Figueira had cause to describe the actions of Rudy Small as “bad for the Linden Hospital and health care delivery in the township.”  Figueira labeled the actions of small as “wicked” and insisted that Small “must be moved.”
