The US State Department 2021 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices slammed the Jagdeo/Ali regime for arbitrary and unlawful execution.
The report, which has been examined by this publication, specifically highlights the execution of Orin Boston and Peter Headley. Under ‘Section 1’ of the Report: ‘Respect for the Integrity of the Person, Arbitrary Deprivation of Life and Other Unlawful or Politically Motivated Killings, the report states:

“There were several reports that the government or its agents committed arbitrary or unlawful killings. In May police shot and killed robbery suspect Peter Headley while he was being transported by police in a civilian vehicle to a police station.
According to police, Headley reached under the seat of the vehicle and pulled out what appeared to be a firearm, leading an armed police officer to shoot Headley, who died a short time later”.
These reports are not mere documents that will remain at the State Department and become cobwebbed. The contents of the reports are the basis on which US foreign policy towards Guyana is guided. As well as that, critical aid and support can be withheld from Guyana due to its poor Human Rights record.
