Milk prices on the increase again in markets

Guyanese consumers are fed-up with the rising cost of living in the country, and they are complaining.  Many have been voicing their concerns on Facebook about the sharp rise in the prices of milk power on the shelves of supermarkets and shops across Guyana.

The price for a packet of 400g Fernleaf Milk Powder went from an initial $540 to $660 per pack last week. One resident of Linden made a post on her Facebook page saying: “Just pay $720 for a pack Fernleaf, God have mercy.”

The price of the locally packaged 400g Milk Power is also in trouble. Guyanese could have gotten a pack of milk power for as low as $400 under the APNU+AFC Government.  Today, the cheapest pack of Milk powder cost $560.

The PPP disastrous economic policies have been the major cause of the pain and suffering being experienced by Guyanese, say Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton at his weekly press conference.

Since its installation to office in August of 2020, the PPP regime has come under strong criticism for its bad policies and economic mismanagement of Guyana. The party’s failure to effectively contain the disastrous inflation rate and rising unemployment have resulted in major discontent among the Guyanese people.

Shadow Finance Minister Juretha Fernandes did warn of higher inflation during her Budget 2022 presentation.  She had told the Parliament that Budget 2022 is going to be a $400,000 tax on every citizen of Guyana and will lead to more economic hardship for citizens.
