Rotting, undistributed hampers in Region 10

‘Things Tight’ in Guyana. Imported inflation precipitated by the global supply chain crisis is one answer. More immediate is local inflation, coupled with the People’s Progressive Party’s (PPP) abysmal stewardship of the economy characterized by the poor performance of every sector and high unemployment. Guyanese are feeling the economic pinch at every turn. Now is not the time for wanton wastage.

The premises where hampers are kept in the Region.

That is why food hampers are meant for thousands of struggling families but have become commonplace for the supporters of the PPP. Region 10 is not a place with a strong support base for the regime. Lindeners are angry that such supplies which should have been available to all vulnerable residents of the Region, were given to a select few and the remainder left to rot. The hampers should have been distributed widely.

A PPP regime “Representative” in the Region oversaw the distribution of the over five hundred (500) hampers. The rotting hampers are now worm and weevil infested, ensuring that families in need this Easter will have to go without, as most of the consignment is now being dumped. Another failure of the PPP in the Region, and more wastage of taxpayers’ money.
