People’s National Congress Reform’s (PNCR) Volda Ann Lawrence is officially a Member of the 12th Parliament of Guyana. Lawrence and PNCR’s Leader Aubrey Norton replaced outgoing PNCR MPs Nicolette Henry and Joseph Harmon.
MP Lawrence is a veteran, having served as a Member of the National Assembly from 1997 to 2020. This totals 23 years as a Member of Parliament.
Lawrence served as Minister of Public Health under the APNU+AFC government for the major part of the administration’s five-year term. As Health Minister, she was elected to serve as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the World Health Organization in 2019.
Lawrence was elected Chairwoman of the PNCR in 2018 but declined to contest for re-election at this year’s PNCR’s 21st Biennial Congress Delegates Congress. Lawrence holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
