Chairman of Region 10 Deron Adams told graduates of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) programs, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) fired hundreds of persons from the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, the National Data Management Authority, the Nursing Assistants program and many other entities. The Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice Regional Chairman said it seems as though that is the fate the graduates are heading towards – no jobs.
Adams said, “Job creation must be a clear and well-structured programme of endeavor in our Region and not a flippant handout of temporary jobs. But all is not lost, and Lindeners and residents of Region 10 are a resilient and resourceful people.”
Installed Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo in a recent outreach to the region promised jobs. But Chairman Adams recently said on our affiliate program, In The Ring, that the PPP has made a series of egregious transgressions in the Region. He noted, “A representation was made for a Youth and Sports Officer who could either be employed or is seconded to this Region and that has been denied for over 2 years now.”
Chairman Adams said further “We have seen that under the Coalition a Synthetic Track being started, two years later still incomplete. Athletes were attempting to go to CAFIFTA Games trials to practice, there is zero funding. The Linden Enterprise Network (LEN) board is not activated after two years, people are being denied funds for small businesses, agriculture, and many other programs.
Deron Adams said, in his BIT graduation remarks, that the Regional Democratic Council will continue to be proactive and seek synergies that would result in the employment of many of you and your counterparts in emerging sectors.
