Dr. Marlan Cole is out as the Director of the Government Analyst Food and Drugs Department (GA-FDD), Ministry of Health. Reports indicate that Dr. Cole has been reassigned and demoted to “work closely with the [GA-FDD] Director to assist with the capacity building of the Department of Standards and Technical Services”, based on the information our publication has seen.
Dr. Cole has been with the organization for almost three decades, with new instructions now to “undertake a seamless and comprehensive handover of the operations of the Government Analyst-Food and Drug Department to Dr. Narine Singh, Chief Medical Officer (ag), which should include all work assignments and properties of the Government of Guyana/Government Analyst-Food and Drug Department”, according to marching orders from the Permanent Secretary Malcolm Watkins.
