Guyana requires strong and steady leadership; now more than ever -MP AWD

A Partnership for National Unity and Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) Member of Parliament and Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Amanza Walton-Desir is calling on the Government to wake up and provide help to ordinary Guyanese who are struggling to make ends meet.

The Member of Parliament in a post to her Facebook page states that as the skyrocketing cost of living continues to plague Guyanese, the PP regime does not appear to care. She posited that Guyana requires strong and steady leadership in times like this. “Working-class Guyanese are unable to make ends meet and the Ali Administration appears either unwilling or unable to implement meaningful measures to cushion the population,” she argued.

Desir believes that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine are already being felt and are going to be with us for a long time. As such, she is questioning, “What is the Government’s strategy to support Guyanese through these challenging times? Since being installed into Government in August of 2020 the PPP regime’s rudimentary economic management has led to rising inflation and pervasive corruption in Guyanese society.
