The body of a 69 year old pensioner was fished out of the Demerara River in Linden late yesterday afternoon.
According to a statement from the police, the motionless body of Ronald Gregory Muss, who hails from Lot 463 Oronoque Street, Retrieve, McKenzie Linden, was discovered on the eastern bank of the Demerara River within the vicinity of Courts Guyana.
Investigators have so far confirmed that Mr Muss, who was near-sighted and feeble due to nerve issues; was last seen alive by a relative around 10:00 am yesterday morning when he reportedly left home for the NIS Linden Branch. When he did not return after some time, checks were made for him without success.
A boat operator told police that while offloading passengers at the ‘Courts Landing’ he observed the body of the man laying in the water close to the landing and he immediately made a report to the police.
The body was transported to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead by a doctor. No marks of violence were observed on the body.
