Russia-Ukraine War: One week of fighting claims 3368 lives; 5,297 wounded -Russian claims

Russia has published reports claiming that 498 Russian troops have been killed with 2870 troops left injured after just 7 days of fighting. These numbers are disputed by Ukraine sources who have placed their estimates of Russian losses at over 5,000 troops killed.

Ukraine claims to have destroyed over 1,000 Russian combat vehicles while independent sources have confirmed over 500 Russian vehicles destroyed or captured so far. Actual losses are likely to be somewhere between the two estimates.

The Russian report claims that 2870 Ukraine troops have been killed and 3700 injured while 572 have been taken captive. Russia also claims to have destroyed 1000 Ukraine combat vehicles and 110 combat aircrafts and drones.

Ukraine claims that over 2,000 civilians have been killed in the fighting. This number is likely to significantly increase as Russia begins to besiege major cities. Over 14,000 lives have been lost in the Ukraine civil war started in 2014. This could possibly become the worst humanitarian event in Europe since WW2.
