A 20-year-old Linden youth of Silvertown Wismar Linden was arrested and charged on Wednesday March 2, 2022 for the offence of ‘Causing a Child Under 16 years to Watch a Sexual Act’ which occurred on December 4, 2021.
The charge against Keyron Healis was laid under Section 12 (2) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 08:03 and the accused appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune via Zoom at the Linden Magistrate’s Court. He was not required to plead and was placed on $75,000 bail. The matter was postponed to March 23, 2022.
In 2018, the Director of the Child Care and Protection Agency (CCPA) Ann Greene recently told the media that Region 10, Upper Demerara- Berbice, recorded the highest child abuse cases in Guyana in 2017, with a 22.1 percent of the country’s total, noting that most of the reported cases in the Region came from Linden.
