An emotionally distressed police officer is now fearful of losing his job after he attempted to arrest and charge a Route 40 Kitty/Campbellville Minibus driver for picking up passengers outside of his designated zone.
The police officer on Wednesday complained about being disrespected by a minibus driver named “Mr. Mc Rae”. According to the officer, the driver also threatened to have him transferred because he has political connections.
“His conduct to Police is unbecoming because of his claims of political affiliations, he’s also showing Police his Freedom House card and threatening to have them transfer. Mr. Mc Rae is one of the most disrespectful drivers that operate public transportation. Every day it’s a challenge with him. He disrespected me in front of everyone and all the passengers that were in his minibus,” the officer related to a news entity.
Only last year a policeman had to run for his life after Colin White, a Sophia bus driver, pursued him with a cutlass on Sheriff Street, Georgetown. Fortunately, the officer escaped unarmed and the driver was ultimately jailed for twelve months for his criminal conduct.
