The Hinterland Region was once again, in as many recent days, flung into deep mourning as one of its beloved teachers succumbed to COVID-19 which is ravaging the country unabated.
Teacher Sonnetta Solomon from Wauna Primary School in Mabaruma is one of the most recent persons to succumb to COVID-19. Member of Parliament Ronald Cox who represents that Region confirmed Solomon’s passing to our publication.
“We lost her. I learnt that she tested positive for COVID on during the week and she was asked to home isolate. The medical staff promised to monitor such persons by regular home visits. She was never visited,” MP Cox stated.
Yesterday according to confirmed reports eleven (11) persons succumbed to the dreaded coronavirus COVID-19 and over 800 new confirmed cases were reported as well.
MP Cox said the authorities had no clue of Sonnetta Solomom’s true condition. “People are dying because of negligence,” the MP lamented as he renewed his call for a fourteen (14) days shutdown of Mabaruma since, he said, the deadly virus is out of control there.
