“I can truly say that I can do all things through Christ…” – CPCE Top Student

The Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) on Wednesday graduated its largest batch of trained teachers in the history of the College. This was announced by the Principal of the CPCE, Dr. Viola Rowe while presenting the Principal’s Report at the 87th Graduation Exercises of the College.

The Graduation Exercise which was held on the College Campus, Turkeyen, saw three teachers walking away with the top honors. Most prestigious is the “President’s Award for Excellence,” which was won by Ms. Jessica Seeraj, a Teacher of Canje Secondary in Berbice.

The young teacher expressed her gratitude on Facebook by posting: “I can truly say that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Seeraj is the Best Overall Graduating Student on the Two-Year Associate Degree in Education Programme.

The second of the top honors is the “Prime Minister’s Prize” which went to Ms. Millie Henrito of Kamarang Primary School, Region Seven. Teacher Henrito copped Best Overall Graduating Student on the Trained Teachers’ Certificate Programme.

And third highest prize, The Minister of Education’s Prize, was awarded to Ms. Donette Adrienne Nicholson of Turkeyen East Coast Demerara. Originally from Lethem, Teacher Donette is the best Overall Graduating Student on the Two-Year Associate Degree in Education Pre-Service Secondary Academic Programme. There were approximately twenty-seven other awards that followed.
