Frustration and anger grips Dartmouth community – MP Shurwayne Holder

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mrs. Shalimar Ali- Hack S.C. decision to charge SWAT officer Sherwin Peters with manslaughter has angered the residents of his home community of Dartmouth Essequibo Coast. This is the view of APNU+AFC Member of Parliament Shurwayne Holder.

Peters is accused of shooting businessman Orin Boston to death in his bed during a SWAT unit operation back in September 2020. MP Shurwayne Holder during podcast discussion on our affiliate ‘Below De Belt’ hosted by Sherod Duncan, along with special guest and Regional Councillor for Region #2 Yonnette Obermuller, gave an overview of the mood of the Essequibo community.

According to Holder, “The people want Justice, they are angry with what they believe are efforts by the Government to cover up the murder.”  The bridge passing through the Essequibo Community of Dartmouth remains blocked to vehicular traffic, with pedestrians and pedal cyclists being allowed to pass freely.  There are no reports of violence.
