“Withdraw the amendments to the Natural Resource Fund Act”, Norton to installed PPPC

PNCR Leader Aubrey Norton

Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Aubrey Norton ‘wailed’ into installed Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo last Sunday on the issue of the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) regime’s iteration of the Natural Resource Fund Bill 2019. Norton in a video statement on social media described the PPPC as a “kleptocracy”.

The PNCR Leader was at the time responding to comments made by Jagdeo on the PNCR’s recently concluded 21st Biannual Delegates Congress. “The intention of his comments is to shift focus away from his desire to remove Article 22 from the Natural Resource Fund Act so that he and his greedy elite band in the PPPC can create the conditions for the PPP kleptocracy to steal the Nation’s money that comes from the sale of oil,” Norton stated.

Norton was emphatic, “We oppose the PPP creating the conditions to be able to raid the Treasury. We demand that you withdraw the amendments to the Natural Resource Fund Act.” The PPPC intends to reduce oversight of Guyana’s Oil and Gas Sector to a chosen few of the installed regime. If the Bill becomes law it will replace a wide and inclusive body as conceptualized by the APNU+AFC Government to administrate the spending of Guyana’s vast Oil and Gas wealth; aimed at transparency and guarding against corruption.
