The Alliance For Change calls out “racist” attack on two Court of Appeal Justices

The Alliance For Change (AFC) has said that a post on social media by Irfaan Ali’s Local Government and Regional Development Minister Nigel Dharamlall attacking two judges of the Court of Appeal is repugnant and blatantly racist.

The party demands a full and unequivocal apology be issued to Chancellor Yonette Cummings-Edwards and Justice Dawn Gregory. It also calls on the President, Attorney General, Guyana Bar Association, Women Lawyers Association, Human Rights Association and other leading civil society groups and individuals to condemn Dharamlall statement.

Dharamlall in his Facebook post called for Chancellor Cummings-Edwards and Justice Gregory to be “defrocked”, criticizing the judges decision that the Appeals Court has jurisdiction to hear in an Elections Petition 99 and related matters and called for their dismissal.
