Wanted bulletin for Burke by GPF “abuse of power” – Norton

Political Scientist Aubrey Norton had condemned as an “abuse of power” the issuing of a wanted bulletin by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) for Rickford Burke, President of the Caribbean/Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID).

The bulletin came one day after Burke through his attorney Eusi Anderson sent a “pre-action protocol letter in defamation” to installed Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo.

Norton charged that the GPF “is complicit in the PPP’s dictatorial actions.” He said, “It is the desire of all Guyanese to live and work together. The only obstacle to us living and working together is the divisive, incopetent, dictatorial and corrupt Ali/Jagdeo PPP regime.”

“The issuing of a wanted bulletin without a basis in law must be condemned as an abuse of power and an act of repression. The PPP must end this violation of the Guyana Constitution and return Guyana to a society where the Government and people are law abiding.”
