APNU+AFC tables questions to National Assembly on Mohammed’s Enterprise 600M contract

The Opposition APNU+AFC has submitted several critical questions to the National Assembly on the award of a contract to Mohammed’s Enterprise valued at 600M. The questions are directed at installed Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn.

Some of the questions read: “Can the Honourable Minister state whether there was a public bidding process for the award of the contract? If yes, when, and where?”

And additionally, “Can the Hon. Minister provide the name of the Contractor(s) who was/were awarded the contract?  Further, can the Minister state what experience this/these company/s has/have in the construction or reconstruction of Fire Headquarters? Further can the Minister state in detail the experience the company has in similar projects?”

Mohammed’s Enterprise, attempting to push back against public criticism of its selection, has stated it has over 30 years experience in construction.

Additionally, in a recent report in Kaieteur News on the installed PPP regime’s tender process, the former Minister of Finance Winston Jordan cites a conflict of interest on the tender board. The report states that Jordan is “calling for an investigation into the operations of the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) whose chairman, Tarachand Balgobin, is also the Director of Project Cycle Management at the Ministry of Finance.”
